Project Description
A comprehensive street design project for a commercial development area in Orangeville, Dufferin Region. The project involved redesigning the King Street and Queen Street corridor to accommodate both vehicular traffic and active transportation while maintaining adequate parking for the future commercial development. The design balanced pre-construction and post-construction parking requirements while integrating sustainable transportation infrastructure.
My Role & Responsibilities
Developed complete street design using AutoCAD, created detailed technical drawings showing parking configurations, bicycle lane integration, and right-of-way specifications. Prepared construction documentation including dimensions, notes, and compliance requirements. Calculated parking space requirements and designed 1.2m bicycle lanes on both sides of the corridor.
Outcomes & Impact
Delivered a complete street design maintaining 235 post-construction parking spaces (from 241 pre-construction) while successfully integrating 1.2m bicycle lanes on both sides. The design achieved a 30.00m right-of-way width and provided detailed construction documentation compliant with municipal standards. The project demonstrates successful balance between vehicular parking needs and active transportation infrastructure in commercial development contexts.
